The fashion design program keeps nurturing and propelling students to greater heights . Samuel Owusu , who graduated with a certificate in fashion design in the year 2015, recounts his days here and what the future holds for him in the industry after winning yet another prestigious award .
Before I enrolled at JACCD. I had a passion for fashion design but knew nothing practical about it. I studied General Arts during my years in senior high school. I heard about JACCD basically by word of mouth. Looking at their rich alumni, i decided to enroll.
I joined the one-year certificate program in the year 2014. I must admit, the course was very demanding. I had to dedicate most of my time in studying and attending lectures. Our teachers combined personal industrial experience with theoretical knowledge together with demonstrations to make sure we understood what we were being taught. Lectures were both fun and informative. I enjoyed every bit of it.
At the end of the study, i had sewn ten different garments with ten different fabrics. From there, I knew i was ready for the job market. I graduated as the overall best student for both Vlisco and JACCD. After JACCD, I had a year contract with Vlisco , but now i am the official designer for GTP.
Recently I was adjudged winner of the best African collection category in a fashion fair held in Durban known as the Durban fashion fair. I knew I had a strong background in fashion so I was confident in my approach.
Quame Owusu, my brand looks to become a force to reckoned with when it comes to the fashion industry worldwide .
I thank the president and founder of JACCD, for giving us this opportunity to study and serving as an inspiration to all of us as at the same time. I thank all my teachers for their endless efforts in making sure that we were on the right track.
To me JACCD, is an industrial leader in the creative , they have no real competitor honestly . I would always recommend JACCD as a first choice for studying fashion design .
